National Dog Day 2008

National dog day will be celebrated August 23, 2008. It is a day where we can celebrate the dog we share our life with. It is a day to give time or money to animal rescues and shelters across the United States. It is a time to reflect on what we can do to improve the heart breaking plight of homeless dogs everywhere. I challenge every reader to plan something, no matter how small, for National Dog Day. If you have a dog, make plans to spend time with him that day. Make your dog his favorite treat, take your dog out to play ball, and tell him what a good dog he is. If your dog is not spayed or neutered, consider if this might be the right time to do it. Donate to local dog shelters and dog rescues. They are always happy to get donations of dog food, cat food, towels, blankets and store bought dog treats. Look online for animal welfare petitions, and sign them. Do what you can, no matter how big or small, it matters. Happy National Dog Day 2008!!
