Dogs Left in Cars ~ Be on the Lookout!

It is always surprising to find new stories in which a dog has been left in the car. You hear the same old cliche of, "I was only going to be gone for a minute." It is the same tired excuse when people leave their babies in the car, or leave a two year old swimming alone. "Well gosh, it's too bad my dog is dead now but I just had to pick up some bread on the way home! Then we read about them on the news, and are disgusted by their idiocy. If the temperature outside is about 72 degrees, it won't take long for the inside of your car to heat up to 116 degrees. Even if you decide to crack the window, it will still be at least 20 degrees hotter in your car.

I am aware that visitors of CoCo the Blogging Dog are more intelligent than that, which brings me to my summer challenge. What I am asking is that when you are out, stay aware of your surroundings and keep an eye out for any dogs locked in cars. If you find one, please call 911 or the police immediately, and stick around to be a witness. Be sure to write down their license plate as well, that way if they come out of the store before the police arrive, you will still be able to file a report and the police will be able to find them. If the dog is in serious distress, I will leave it up to you to decide if you want to break the window. I would as a last resort, and I doubt that the police would find fault with this, if it were a matter of life or death. Be on the lookout!
